August 20, 2007
Dear Recent North Shore Choral Society Singer,
Tuesday, September 4th, 2007, will be the beginning of a fabulous
and very special North Shore Choral Society 72nd Concert Season.
“Fabulous” because we will be performing the following
works: Mozart’s Te Deum, Rheinberger’s The Star
of Bethlehem, Vaughan Williams’ Flos Campi (November
11), Poulenc’s Gloria with the Evanston
Symphony Orchestra (March 16), and Mendelssohn’s Elijah (June
7). A stellar line-up of soloists includes Chicago Symphony Orchestra
Violist Charles Pikler on the Flos Campi, Peter and Kathleen
Van De Graaff on The Star of Bethlehem, and Michelle
Areyzaga on the Gloria.
“Very special” because this is Donald Chen’s last
year as NSCS Music Director. Donald has led us for 24 years,
fully one-third of NSCS’s organizational life!
Speaking for the North Shore Choral Society Board, I invite you to
rejoin us as a regular member for this 72nd Concert Season. Rehearsals
now are at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3637 Golf Road in Evanston, at
7:30 each Tuesday beginning September 4th. Our membership dues
are $50. For any further information please contact our General Manager,
Len Barker at 847-272-2351 or lenpbarker@comcast.net, and check out
our web site:www.northshorechoral.org.
Cordially,
David W. Hunt
President
P.S. The Board has set in motion a process for the selection
of a new conductor. Input from the chorus will be an essential part
of this selection. During November and December several candidates
will conduct the chorus. Members will be asked to complete an
evaluation form for each candidate.
