Special Blue Notes for December 4, 2004 -some
old, some new
Tickets for tomorrow's concert are still available today at advance
prices; see Paul Siegal. And a few season tickets are still available;
see Len Barker.
People are needed to set up for the concert tomorrow at 12:30 .
The chorus needs to be in place for warm-ups and notes by 1:30 . And of
course we all need to help put things away after the concert.
The listening party begins at 7:30 next Tuesday evening at Wylie
and Erica Crawford's house, 701 Sheridan Road in Evanston . Contribute
something to eat or drink-and enjoy listening to our holiday concert.
Yes, we will rehearse at the usual time on December 14. Anyone interested
in auditioning for NSCS will be heard on that Tuesday between 6:30 and
7:30 . Contact Len Barker.
But we will not rehearse on either December 21 or 28. Then it's
back to business on January 4.
The program which accompanies this concert is the compilation of
the work of many people. But the final product-that is, putting everything
together into what the audience reads-is the work of Ellen Pullin and Marcia
Bollo. The hours they spend at this job are legion; the result is astounding.
After perusing this program, you might want to take an opportunity to thank
one or both of these ladies for their time and efforts.

Many thanks to those of us who supported this concert in a variety
of ways: by making contributions; by selling ads; by placing posters; by
selling tickets; by spreading the word in whatever ways; by attending rehearsals
regularly; by practicing outside of rehearsals-in short, by doing whatever
it takes to make a concert successful.
Though the tenor section is the smallest, it had the best attendance
at rehearsals for this first concert; according to their section coordinator,
five of the eleven tenors had perfect attendance: David Crumrine, Bob Langewisch,
Tom Olkowski, Steve Schneider, and David Taylor. The poorest attendance
was in the....well, we won't go there. Other people with perfect attendance
are Judith Greene, Julie McDowell, Karen Fish Schurder, Roxann Specht,
Rose Anderson, Marcia Bollo, Ellen Pullin, Kathleen Tolisano, Else-Britt
De Long, Lenore Dupuis, Debbie Geismar, Jill Horwitz, Kay Rossiter, Erica
Sufritz (who had her picture in Thursday's Tribune ), Antje Drajanski,
Sally Hakes, Joan Merchan, Caroline Rooney, Pat Seidl, Eleanor Skydell,
Judy Taylor, Anthony Green , Chuck Uchtman, and Steve
Warner. Congratulations.
Think about holiday gifts: contributions to NSCS in your name; Messiah note
cards-20 for only $10.00; Enchanted Remembrances , the book that
Inge Kistler has translated.
And don't forget the coupons for Dominick's benefits days next Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday. If you don't have any, be sure to ask.
