Blue  Notes  for  Halloween  2006

Thanks to Northminster Presbyterian Church for making its sanctuary available to us last Tuesday evening on short notice.  We’ll also be rehearsing there again on November 21, while Trinity prepares for its Thanksgiving services..

This evening is the last call for submitting ads for our three 2006-2007concert programs. If a potential ad is still pending, however, let Debbie Geismar or Mary Ann Kissock know like pronto.

Anne Harkonen has tickets again this evening—both for the season and for the December concert.  Season regular $60.  Season senior $50. December regular $22.  December senior $20.  December youth $12.  Remember that tickets can now be ordered on line at our web site; however, NSCS pays a small fee for these orders.  So--if you can, buy from Anne!

As a result of the recent patron mailings, donations are beginning to arrive—both from NSCS members and NSCS friends. Anyone who wants to save a stamp can bring his/her contribution to a rehearsal and hand it to Len Barker.

Tickets for the LaSalle Bank Do-It-Yourself Messiah at the Civic Opera House--on December 21 and 22—will be made available beginning on November 15.  More information about ordering these tickets will be forthcoming next week.

These soloists will be joining us for the Christmas concert: Greta Ball, Linden Christ, Karen Brunssen, and Natalie Mann.

Up-to-date membership lists--on pink paper--are available again this evening.  If any of your information is incorrect, please contact Anthony Green with the changes.  And, if you have not been receiving emails from Len regarding rehearsals, please let him know so his address book can be updated as well.

Soon we will be mailing reminder cards for the December concert.  Names of potential ticket buyers—folks who are not on our regular mailing list—are always welcome.  Soon you’ll receive an email asking for such names; please give the matter some thought and help expand our audiences.

Several weeks ago, a call came from a trumpeter who had played in the orchestra for our performance of the Messiah at Pick-Staiger in December of 1999.  His CD of that concert had been destroyed, and he wanted another.  Fortunately, one was still available. These CDs of previous concerts are also available; see Anthony Green if interested.

A cab driver picks up a nun. She gets into the cab, and the cab driver won't stop staring at her.  She asks him why he is staring, and he replies, "I have a question to ask you, but I don't want to offend you."

She answers, "My dear son, you cannot offend me. When you're as old as I am and have been a nun as long as I have, you get a chance to see and hear just about everything. I'm sure that there's nothing you could say or ask that I would find offensive."

"Well, I've always had a fantasy to have a nun kiss me."

She responds, "Well, let's see what we can do about that: #1 you have to be single, and #2 you must be a Catholic."

The cab driver is very excited and says, "Yes, I am single, and I'm Catholic, too!"

The nun says, "OK, pull into the next alley." He does and the nun fulfills his fantasy.

But when they get back on the road, the cab driver starts crying. "My dear child," says the nun, "why are you crying?"

"Forgive me, sister, but I have sinned. I lied. I must confess, I'm married and a I'm a Baptist."

The nun says, "That's OK.  I’m on the way to a Halloween party, and my name is Kevin."
