BLUE
NOTES FOR TUESDAY, JUNE 5, 2007
TICKETS:
Yes, there are lots left. Buy this evening from Anne Harkonen
before the rehearsal or during the break.
Things
for us to remember about this coming weekend:
**Friday
afternoon and early on Sunday afternoon are good opportunities for
us to make important
contributions by helping with the set-up. And after the concert
on Sunday? Of course!
**Eating
or drinking anything except water in the sanctuary on either Saturday
or Sunday is taboo.
**Reeking of
perfume, cologne, or after shave on Sunday is not a good idea.
**Our
rehearsal on Saturday begins sharply at 10:00 A.M. and is scheduled
to last until 2:00 P.M.
**At
the Saturday rehearsal, Donald will give us our call time for Sunday.
**Saturday’s
rehearsal is the last opportunity to buy tickets at the advance price.
Alicia
Resnick and Joan Merchan poured juice for us last Tuesday; tonight,
Laura Graedel and Wylie Crawford close our juice season. Thanks
to them—and to all the juice providers and pourers and drinkers
and payers for quenching our thirst and increasing our treasury during
the past nine months.
If
you know of anyone who should be given a complimentary ticket, please
let Len Barker know this evening.
Donations?
They’re always welcome.
Last
evening, the weekly Carillon Concert Series began at the Chicago
Botanic Garden. On each Monday evening between then and August
27, the bells will begin playing at 7:00 P.M.—with a tour and
demonstration of the carillon available at 5:30. Picnickers
are invited to bring their own baskets or purchase their al fresco
suppers at the Evening Grille. Wylie Crawford takes his turn
on July 10, with a program including works by Bach and Handel—and “Music
from the Cinema.” For more information about Wylie, the carillon,
and the Garden concert series, last Sunday’s Metro section
of the Tribune has it.
No
Pain, No Gain???? Definitely NOT true when you use Jewel Shop and
Share slips. A great gain for NSCS without causing you any pain.
Just think of the 5 % that we'll get from our total shopping amount
at Jewel on June 11, 12 and 13. No limitation! A painless way
to do good. Take as many slips as you want. Give them to neighbors
and friends. They’ll love you for it--and respect you as well.
Here are a couple of other suggestions: Plan your shopping trip early.
Make notes on the back of the slips, which are intentionally left
blank just for that purpose. Write down all the good stuff you need
for the next few weeks and for your July 4 celebration, such as charcoal,
brats, beer, shrimp, lobster, fine wines, and of course lots of Pepto
Bismol. You get the picture!? Thanks for shopping and for supporting
NSCS. Mr. and Mrs. Jewel and Harry Vroegh wish you a great summer.
