tenors to audition for its June 1 and 3 concerts of songs both romantic

This
Thursday, the Chicago Bar Association Symphony Orchestra and Chorus
presents Fête Française at St. James Cathedral,
65 East Huron Street in Chicago. The program, which begins at 7:00
P.M., includes Saint-Saens’ Symphony No. 3 (“Organ
Symphony”), Fauré’s Requiem in D Minor,
and Poulenc’s Sextet in Three Movements (for piano,
flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and horn). Admission is $10.00, $5.00
for seniors and students.
This
coming Saturday, May 12, the Northwestern Symphonic Choir, Symphony
Orchestra, and faculty and alumni soloists present An American
Requiem by Richard Danielpour, a work that honors the victims
of 9/11. This concert, which begins at 7:30 P.M. in Pick-Staiger
Concert Hall, also features Oliver Knussen’s Flourish with
Fireworks and James Hobbs’s Xia Xiang Suite No. 3. NSCS
members singing in the choir are Anthony Green, David Hunt, and David
Wojtowicz.
On
Sunday, May 13, at 3:00 p.m., J.S Bach‘s The Passion According
to St. John will be performed by the Bach Week Orchestra and
Chorus at the Music Institute of Chicago, 1490 Chicago Avenue in
Evanston. NSCS members singing in this performance are Mei and Doug
Aden, Joan Daugherty, and Lucinda Fuller. For tickets: 800/595-4TIX

Also
on May 13, the Evanston Symphony Orchestra presents is final concert
of the year at Pick-Staiger Concert Hall. On the program are Herold’s Zampa
Overture, Dvorak’s New World Symphony, and Calandrelli’s Concerto

The
2007 Midwest Classical Record Show celebrates its 20th anniversary
on Saturday, May 19, from 9:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Holiday Inn
Northshore, 5300 West Touhy Avenue in Skokie. Dealers from
across the country will be displaying thousands of collectible classical
LPs and hard-to-find CDs. For more information, contact Jerry

The
Sing To Live Community Chorus will present its sixth concert, Pearls
from the East, on Saturday, June 2, at Pilgrim Congregational
Church in Oak Park, and on Sunday, June 16, at the Music Institute
of Chicago in Evanston. Music for this performance includes pieces
from Korea, China, Japan, the Philippines, Mongolia, and India. Information
for ordering tickets will be forthcoming. As
part of its mission to provide the gift of music to the breast cancer
community, the Sing to Live Community Chorus provides breast cancer
patients and survivors complimentary tickets to all if its concerts.
The
fourth annual Chicago Summer Sings! once again
meets on three Tuesdays in June for those wanting to sing or just
listen to these choral pieces:
