BLUE
NOTES FOR TUESDAY, MAY 6, 2008
There are two “dress” rehearsals for the June
7 Elijah concert: Wednesday and Thursday evenings, June
4 and 5. There will be no rehearsal on Tuesday, June
3.
Anyone wishing to order a CD of the March concert may do so
this evening. Sign up on one of the sheets near the juice table and
deposit $10.00 (for each) in the envelope. (Checks can be made out
to ESO.) The CDs will be delivered next Tuesday. If you do
not have the money this evening, sign up anyway and bring the money
next Tuesday; a CD will be ordered for you. ESO does not allow any
one person to buy more than two recordings.
The spring patron mailing has been completed and is on its
way to potential contributors. Thanks to these NSCS members
who collated and stuffed: Jo Anne Gerules, Phoebe Segal, and Hank
Bohanon, and to NSCS friend Meng-Jia Wu. Thanks also to Ellen
Pullin, Anthony Green, and Kent Fuller for their valuable assistance.
And especially to Patrons Chair Barbara Weiner, who coordinated these
efforts.
This coming Saturday morning at 9:00, the NSCS Board meets
in Saint John’s Lutheran Church, 1235 Wilmette Avenue. Any
chorus member is welcome to attend this meeting and/or to give President
David Hunt an agenda item.
At 11:00, immediately following the Board meeting, the Benefit
Planning Committee meets in the same location. Again, any chorus
member is welcome to attend.
Anne Harkonen is at her informal ticket office again this
evening: $22.00, $20.00 (seniors), and $12.00 (students). People
from as far away as California and Pennsylvania have purchased Elijah tickets
on line.
Donald Draganski’s program notes for Elijah are
available in the narthex. These are his final notes for NSCS;
following Donald Chen’s example, he is retiring from this responsibility,
one he has shouldered since 1980.
Bach Week is in full swing at the Music Institute of Chicago
in Evanston. Two concerts remain, both on this Friday evening,
May 9. To obtain more information or to buy tickets: www.bachweek.org.
There will be no Blue Notes next Tuesday; please
give any important announcements to David Hunt.
